running two protections at same time

Hewlett-packard / Compaq presario

Specs: windows XP
I have AVG Free 9.0 that runs all the time.
I have malwarebytes'-- anti-malware.
can I run both of these at the same time??
What will it do to my computer?
I think something is already wrong cause it tends to freeze up. I most of the time just restart it to get going again. The mouse also
flickers and sometimes moves on its own.
Plese someone help me.

Not a problem you can use "AVG" and malwarebytes simultaneously.
I sujjest, its better to go for good Antivirus like "Avast" or "Bitdefender" (freeversion).

Did you check the temporary files in C:\ Drive of your machine. Cuz., computer may also freeze if the there are huge amount of temporary files.
Use Ccleaner and free all the temporary files, and then fix all the registry files using the same application.

thanks, I have Malwarebytes on desktop, but don't think it runs all the time. Avg runs 24/7. I don't know much about this stuff, but I do a disk clean and defrag every couple months, maybe its that time again.
