Two things… Model number of computer.

Is there anything on the system you'd like to recover (save) - as in personal files etc… If so do that before any type of reset routines… Use a Linux variant disk to boot up and then access the files on the HD. Copy them to external media.

Typical variants are many - Ubuntu is just one of them - Ubuntu.com. Download an ISO, save, and burn to a DVD. Boot with that DVD. It will load into RAM only… and allow access to the HD using it simply as a resource.

Which password are you referring to; logon to the OS - or what?

Sorry that's three questions…

Any other info you can give here "may" help to bring a possible resolution that negates the need for a factory reset routine…

Do any of these work for you?

Oh well - that's four questions overall...
