No practical chance of fixing it then as it fits the "rubbish in rubbish out" syndrome". It would need stacks of money spent on it to even have a chance.

WinRAR has a repair option that works well. Give that a shot

If you've tried everything on the internet you must have been very busy. It leaves me wondering just what type of answer would suit you.

I am sorry @first two commenters, I didn't provide much info. I apologize. let me do it now. its a solid archived 7zip and its like 450mb. the file inside it is of something 850mb, its an iso. another file is there, something like 20kb or so, an nfo file, and m not bothered with that one. I want the iso file back. well I do tried winrar to repair the archive, but it says it only repairs only .zip and .rar files. I tried to extract the iso file but it only extracts the first 273kb (approx) of the file and shows an error. I tried using 7zip, it says CRC error. I really need the file, its urgent. anything else I missed, do let me know.

Upload a SS ( screenshot ) to a site of your choosing, of what the WinRAR Diagnostic screen shows.
Give us the link please.

Doesn't look promising.

I see it's not a .zip or .rar file so what file extension does it have?

Was the file working at some previous time or is this a download that hasn't yet worked?

I personally don't believe DAT. another file downloaded from the same site by me was damaged too, and I repaired it myself following up the recovery guide of the official 7zip site. so I DO believe that it is recoverable too. I want a solution not a discouragement. sorry.

It all depends how bad it is - maybe the other one only had a corrupted header. In this case you have no idea what was uploaded. If there is a chunk missing for example then I can't see how you can guess what it was then put it back in. Similarly if something has changed then it is difficult to see how a program can guess what the original should be. I feel I was just being realistic so that you didn't waste your time. However I'll watch out for your fix and be the first to congratulate you if you make it.

isn't there any way to ignore the corrupted parts and extract rest of it?

The fact that it's a compressed file makes it much more difficult to restore. It's effectively a jumble of parts that are put together when you extract from it.

Can't stay right now (gone 2am where I am). If I think of anything I'll pop back but don't hold your breath.

If it's less than 200M you could put it on here if you wish (no account needed):
http://www.zippyshare.com/
Just let us know the URL (web address) it gives you.

Most likely I will not have any more luck than you had but nothing lost by trying.

There might be a free website around that will take 500M. It's just that I know you can trust zippyshare.

Another one I have used.

http://www.load.to/
Load.to is a so-called 1-click-hoster / sharehoster which hosts your files for free!
After uploading a file you'll get a personal download link you can send to your friends all over the world.
We have no bandwidth limit for uploading (up to 1 GB per file) and downloading!

Just for fun I downloaded from your link in #17. Not surprised to find I had no better luck than anyone else. I couldn't even extract the little nfo file.

So your only option is to try to find another reliable source, or hope they put a new copy on there sometime.

Just the same I seemed to download it OK and the 7-Zip screen showed the contents inside. It was after that I hit trouble.
