Remove or don't remove file autochk.exe

Specs: Windows Vista
I just scanned my computer with AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition and it found an infection in windows/system32/autochk.exe I don't know too much about effective virus removal. I tried to remove it through AVG because it remained unhealed. However, it came to a point where I was given the choice to force the threat removal (because the access was denied) or to simply not remove it. Which route should I take? I don't want to remove anything from my computer that I will need to run it. Also, I read from a few other sources that performing a system restore was relatively simple if I had direction on how to do it. I can figure that out from other sources if that is what must be done. I would just like to know if that, any of the above, or another course of action would be the best option. Thank you for any help!

your safest bet might be to run Malwarebytes in a full scan and fix all it finds.

AVG is NOT the best scanner to use by all means. IMO infections CANNOT be healed...they are either quarantined or deleted.
