Random websites and pop-ups

August 25, 2011 at 09:59:16
Specs: Windows Vista, AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 2.2GH/4Gigs
Recently my computer began acting funny. Whenever I type a search into Google (mostly in Firefox but it also seems to happen in Chrome) and click a link it will bring me to a random site. I'll go back and click again, sometimes it will then bring me to the correct site, other times it will bring me to another random site. I also will get random pop-ups that make it seem like it's a survey from the site I'm on (Netflix among others). Also, flash will randomly crash. I've run Malwarebites and TDSS Killer, neither seem to have been able to fix the problem. Can anyone help me with this or should I just reformat my HD?

most people google for that but I see you have a redirecting problem.
Trojan Remover:
http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/d...
Hitman Pro
http://www.surfright.nl/en

Using google or another search engine is a good tool to use, it will also increase your PC knowledge...

I have no problem using Google, it's just hard to know whether or not you can trust a website since you never know if you're actually downloading what they say you're downloading.

I went ahead and ran those programs, the Trojan Remover didn't find anything and all the Hitman Pro found were tracking cookies :\

Ok, that seems to have done the trick. So far, since I've run those three programs, I haven't had any issues. I'll wait until tomorrow and let you know if it's still bug-free. Thanks!
