PC won't boot; load dlls kernel

Thanks for the great site. Often read- but never posted. Here's my dilemna:

Got AV Security Suite one morning, and couldn't operate. While in safe mode I downloaded and ran some anti-virus and other recommended programs to remedy. Since then I cannot boot into safe mode- the PC just restarts itself.

My emachines oem disk didn't have recovery console- which I downloaded and put onto another cd. Did a full destructive install ( I had recently done one successfully so no important info remained)- followed by attempts to use recovery console.

Now I get a message about load dlls kernel.

Each time I think I'm close- I am back to square one. Losing data is not an issue, and I have a clean PC running next to it.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Ace;

Please forgive my medium-low tech saviness here.

Finally found event log in Reatogo, and in event properties had a message: X\I386\EXPLORE.EXE generated an application error... Exception generated was c0000005 at address 75C54A27 (script).

Under system, it says error ID 7, and says "bad block". \DEVICE\HARDDISK0\D

Being able to access the internet on the Reatogo pc is helpful, but trying to find the problem is proving difficult.
