Outlook Express stops sending & receiving

Specs: Windows XP SP3
After installing several of the latest Windows Updates to XP SP3, OE 6 stopped sending & receiving (but IE 8 started to access the Internet, no problem, after being unable to do so following the previous set of XP updates!)
Have tried disabling Norton Internet Security firewall, but it makes no difference: OE 6 still won't send/receive.
Any possibility this might be malware-related? I'm stumped. Helpful suggestions welcome! :o)
[When I say OE won't send/receive, the status window pops up, and shows 'Connected', with status of 'Executing' but never gets to 'Authorizing' for receiving or sending.]

I would contact your ISP"s technical service to see if the problem is at their end, after I tried deleting the account and setting it up again. You will need the password you established with your ISP and their address to do this. The ISP address can be critical, as an example when I had a similar problem my ISP has most of its customers use this address shawmail.shaw.net, I had to use shawmail.cg.shawcable.net in order for OE to work. HTH
