Open mace is my problem... I think

January 13, 2014 at 14:37:15
Specs: Windows 7
Clicking basically anywhere pops up new pages.
I also have commercials playing... I can only hear them, not see them. (But that may be the video player on the side of your screen.)
I get redirected to m2pub.com.

I have run both malwarebytes and Microsoft security essentials and it still happens.

I perhaps got ahead of myself and am running OTL currently.

So again, I may be getting ahead of myself, but..

I have question about uploading the logs as well.. am I uploading the logs as files (load.to) or images (imgur).

Can I not copy and paste them directly into this thread?

You can just copy and paste into the thread but be careful of running scans that we haven't requested.

Go to Start, navigate to Control Panel, select Uninstall a program/Programs and Features, find S.m2pub.com related programs, and click on Uninstall.

Clear your hosts file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034

Under internet options, change your homepage back to your homepage(instead of m2pub.com. In the same popup click on advanced tab, then the reset at the bottom.(make sure that delete personal settings is clicked) Then close out and reopen.(if you have another browser let me know, I will pass information on clearing that as well.)

note that running the scans is still a great option, however these will eliminate the pop ups while you are doing so.

Hello again,

Consider my hand slapped; I will not work ahead. ;)

All S.m2pub programs I could find uninstalled.
Host file cleared.
Homepage reset.
Internet Explorer settings reset.

I also have Google Chrome, so I'll need further instructions.

Thanks for the help so far.

Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
Select Settings.
Click Show advanced settings and find the "Reset browser settingsā€ section.
Click Reset browser settings.
In the dialog that appears, click Reset.
