|Here's my problem:|
Lately I've been hearing audio ads in the background of my computer, and I have discovered that this is due to an infected variant of the iexplore.exe process.
So I ran a system scan using malwarebytes and then removed the infections it found, but this did not stop the ads associated with iexplore.exe.
So on this website I found a guide for manually removing iexplore.exe
However, after performing some of the steps I felt uncomfortable with the procedure and scrolled down the forum thread in was posted in only to find
a complaint by one of those who had tried this method that it "screws up the computer". My computer didn't looked screwed up yet, so I thought I was ok
and I stopped following the manual removal directions. However, upon restarting my computer (I was now installing Zone Alarm to defend against future infections)
only the desktop background loads. No icons, nothing. The file I deleted was "Userinit"="userinit32.exe," from the registry.
Here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
I can't accesss Task Manager, and my computer fails to load in Safe Mode. Anybody have any suggestions?
