Specs: Windows XP
Sadly I have been stuck with trying to save my computer from a virus.

I turned on the computer to find that my mouse curser had disappeared. I unplugged the mouse and plugged it in again but found that had no effect.

I ran a anti-virus scan (AVG) and found 10 malicious objects in various places e.g. temp, temp internet files

I removed them and restarted, this failed to fix the problem. I next tried to restore my system back to a previous date but this came back saying it failed.

I then ran XP in safe mode however the mouse curser was still no present. I am unsure as to what to do now.

Any ideas?

Callum, Have you gone into the Control Panel and opened the Mouse Properties and under the Pointers tab make sure that the Scheme isn't set to "None"?

Callum, Have you tried another mouse as it's possible that this mouse may be broken? Did you check in your Device Manager to see if the mouse is listed and whether or not there are any problems. Right click My Computer, choose Properties, under the Hardware tab click the Device Manager button then double click the Mouse.

I tested the mouse on my laptop and it performed as expected so it seems it is not the mouse that is the problem. The driver is also working correctly.

1- is it a PS2 or USB mouse?
2- Is it wired or wireless?
3- is the mouse listed in device manger? You didn't answer that.
