Hello
I am having some unusual problems on my computer, like Avast and windows will not update, BSOD started appearing, and Explorer does not work very well. I thought I better restore to an earlier time when I noticed that all my restore points had disappeared. I found that I could get Avast to update by making it use a direct connection in the update settings instead of Auto Detect. I then tried to re-install windows 7 but it could not see any hard drives. I looked in device manager and disk management and could not see any internal drives except for the DVD drive. I can however see the drive when I click on my computer.I have looked on many forums and have seen that this is a common problem but nobody seems to have found a correct solution. I ran a boot time scan with Avast and found I had some Trojans and Viruses. Avast removed them but my drives did not reappear and I still cannot update windows. When I try to update windows it says my internet connection is having problems but it is fine. I checked the firewall, tried CCcleaner, Registry Mechanic, Spyware Doctor, and Driver Detective.
I have followed advice on forums that say change the setting in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/System/EableLUA to 0 as well as the setting it to 0 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/Explorer/NoDriveTypeAutoRun. This did not help. I went to Microsoft forums and tried the advice of making a .bin file with the following info and running it
regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wuwebv.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltux.dll
regsvr32 /s wudriver.dll
Still no luck grrrrrr
So can anyone here help me please. Thanks in advance for your time and effort.
