New Win32 Virus

August 2, 2009 at 22:24:10
Specs: Windows XP, 1.25GB
I accidently clicked on a link on a malicious website downloaded a win32 virus. Mcafee continuously finds new .exe files being infected. I ran malware bytes in safe mode and quarantined all the files found to be infected. My browser doesn't allow me to access any online scanners such as http://housecall.microtrend.com/ I don't know if this is a result of the virus. I don't know what to do next. Please help

Have you tried the system restore method?

I have temporarily disabled system restore. But now I am stuck. Can you please explain a little more about what you are talking about?

Well system restore will help to revive the state of your computer before you had the problem. That is why i kind a wonder if you have any restore point. But have you tried to run in safe mode to run the online scanner?

No I don't believe I have any restore points unfortunately. The online scanner pages cannot be displayed. Sites like facebook and google work but http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ or the eset scanner or the mcafee sites cannot be displayed. I also cannot update malware bytes even in safe mode. Is this a result of the virus?
