Solved Need to get Malware off computer.

August 8, 2016 at 12:18:27
Specs: Windows10
My computer has gotten Malware on it. My anti-virus keeps blocking it but I need to get it off somehow. Is there a good free or paid program that I can use to try to save my computer. I am definitely not tech savy. I just get by. Thanks for any help you can give me. Susan

✔ Best Answer
adwcleaner:

JRT - junkware removal tool

JRT installs to the desktop from where run it. It opens into dos style window; follow the instructions therein. It will reboot the system as part of its process.

ccleaner

http://filehippo.com/download_cclea...

malwarebytes:

All of the above are free; safe to use; regularly recommended here.

Install each using the custom or manual option; do NOT use the default/automatic option Using custom/manual watch for and uncheck all the pre checked boxes - apart for the one for utility itself. That way you avoid installing all manner of stuff you neither need nor want; much of which is true PIA to eradicate.

Retain any logs generated for possible inspection/use anon...

See how you get on with the above first and let us know. Quite likely some of the other pholks here may suggest at least one or two other utilities to run. One being a virus/pest remover that is run from a DVD (which you create via a utility from Kapsersky anti-virus); and which is also free and safe to use. This last item removes pests which cannot always be found and removed whilst windows is actually booted up.

Thank you all so much. I poked around reading others on here and I downloaded malwarebytes. It had a 14 day free trial on it. I had to scan it twice before it actually took the malware off but it did on the second scan or it says it did so hopefully it has taken care of it. If it did I plan to go ahead and purchase it in hopes of this not happening again. Thanks again everyone.

It would be useful, wise even, to run the other utilities too. Whilst they all look for some common nuisances, they each have their own specialties.

Malwarebytes will, if I remember correctly, default to a choice of paid for or free.

Thank you TRVLR. I had thought about doing just as you have suggested but did not because I thought maybe they were basically the same. Now I think I will go ahead and download the other utilities also. It certainly sounds like as you said a wise decision.

ADWCleaner and JRT focus on browser malware. They can find what MalwareBytes will miss and should generally be run before MWB. Yes, definitely run them.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Good to hear but keep an eye on things because to fully clean your computer can take a whole stack of programs. Those given are a very good start.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
