I am getting emails sent to me from my own email address - that is one problem - someone has hijacked my email address. Second, I am getting fraudulent emails from people in my address book - these emails contain links to questionable websites etc (I don't open them but preview quickly to see if the email is legit - they are not) Third I am getting tons of emails from people in my address book talking about large sums of money awarded etc. Obviously I have some kind of email address book worm or virus. I have Spy Sweeper (Webroot) and AVAST on board and have been free of issues several years until now. Hope someone can help me.
I would like to add that I just found my computer with a stop error blue screen message saying that file ntfs.sys caused a system failure and a screen full of instructions. I rebooted and got another blue screen saying new software or hardware had caused the problem and that I should remove or reinstall them. It said something about Driver___IRQL____NOT___LESS___OR___EQUAL and that if it was the first time to see this screen to reboot and uninstall new programs or disable caching etc. On reboot I got the safemode option screen and was reading everything when the boot continued on its own to a normal boot. Not sure if any of this is related to my email virus problem but the only coincedence for this most recent development is having just visited myspace again for the first time in a year - everytime I visit myspace I get a virus warning or problem. Was just trying to look at my sons myspace page. Appreciate any help about this and the email hijack problem.
Today my computer is acting messed up in a different way. I was editing a video when the program just closed wo notice etc - just gone. This never happened before and I have processed hundreds of videos. Also when I had finished uploaded video clips from my camera and unplugged the usb connector the pc shut down wo warning - never happened before. something is going on and AVAST did not dedect it. Can someone help me get a thorough scan? I'm sure there is a worm or virus on my computer.
