The_Ciz, If you're using Windows Vista go to the link below and download the exe and lnk file association fixes. Follow the Usage instructions.

http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...

If you're using Windows XP go to the link below and scroll down to line 12 (left column) and click on "EXE (lnk and regfile) Fix for Windows XP" to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it or right click it and choose "merge" and answer yes to the import prompt.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_...

If you can't run the file do the following:

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager. Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key and click New Task (Run). This will open a Command Prompt window. Enter REGEDIT.exe and press Enter. Once regedit is open click File>Import and locate that reg file fix, hilite it and click Open.

Note: If you can't access the Internet with the problem computer use another computer to download the reg file fix onto a CD, thumb drive, or floppy and transfer the file to the problem computer's hard drive then run it.

To enter safe mode follow:

1) Restart your computer.
2) When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3) Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4) Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5) Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.

Download and run Kaspersky AVP tool in safe mode: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com...
Once you download and start the tool:
# Check below options:

    * Select all the objects/places to be scanned.
    * Settings > Customize > Heuristic analyzer > Enable deep rootkit search

# Click Scan
# Fix what it detects
# Attach Scan log/Summary to your next message.

First post your scan log/report. Upload it to rapidshare.com and paste the download link here. Also if possible post a screen shot. Do you mean active windows with microsoft?
