My google results are being hijacked! I click on search results and am taken to useless other sites. My firewall is on and AVG antivirus software is up-to-date (although it needed to reinstall intself a couple of times over the past few days, which was suspicious). It does feel like something has taken over my system...any help appreciated! Thanks, Amanda
heard about this go to a different search engine and type tdss killer then download it double click on it then let it do what it needs to do then all annoying ads sites and junk are all gone!

unfortunately tdss killer doesn't do much good by itself. You should 1st run rkill.exe to kill the process and then run tdss killer to remove whatever it finds. Then run malwarebytes doing a full system scan. See how your PC runs after that.

thanks! in the meantime I ran lavasoft adaware, and it found a high level security threat called something like Win32.Trojan.FakeAV, which it described as a malware. Will this be it, do you think, or should I keep looking for more nasties? Thanks again - I appreciate your advice!
run malwarebytes, much better than adaware Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
