My computer has a virus, and I need help

February 21, 2011 at 21:40:51
Specs: Windows XP
I have had the redirect virus for a while, and I can't seem to get rid of it.

http://www.computing.net/answers/se...

That is a previous question I posted, but with little help. I am not certain if Trojan Remover actually helps. They found something, and I don't know whether to delete it or not.
I have tried many advices on the internet on how to stop the redirect virus, and I don't have any luck pulling it off. Also, I think conditions are getting worse. Because once in a while, my computer would freeze up, and I would have to restart.

It would be really nice if I could get help for this.
Thanks!

remove what trojan remover finds and also use hitman pro as I previously mentioned.

If that doesn't work you can try combofix:

what i would try is..

1) Restart the computer and press F8 and select the option to "boot in safe mode w/ Networking" (this will boot your computer up with the basic drivers thats needed to run windows)

2) Go online> with in the google search bar type in AVG free anti virus.

3) Download the Anti-Virus program and let it RUN. It will search through the entire computer for viruses.

4) Once its done, the computer will restart and let it boot up normally. This should get rid of your virus.

5) Worst come to worst! back up ALL your information IN SAFE MODE and re-install Windows.

Hope that helped.. take care

That is pretty comical when it is only a redirect virus...ho hum ( a reformat is a LAST RESORT), ....sorry, but AVG is really not the answer, a bootscan by Avast would make much more sense.

@XpUser4Real: Alright then. I'll give Hitman Pro a shot. I posted a reply on the old post, but I guess it doesn't notify you. It was pretty much that I found something, so yeah. I'll remove what Trojan Remover found.
@cwtechnical5: I have avast, and that currently doesn't work properly. I am also unable to do a system restore, if that even matters.

@XpUser4Real: Alright. So, my computer is pretty much dead. I cannot get on the internet through my computer. Trojan Remover has been useless. Hitman Pro did not help. I have only used it once, but for one reason: it requires internet access. My only "weapon" is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and that doesn't always pick up the virus. Occassionally, I cannot access my firewall. Avast doesn't work. Any other suggestion?
