I have Kaspersky internet security 10 installed for a while now and its avp.exe is constantly using up to 99% of my cpu system power according to my task manager. It slows the computer down so much that I cant do much else on my machine. Is kaspersky in general such a big power hog or could I do something to stop this without changing virus programs altogether?
Had the same thing happen on a Windows 7 computer a couple of weeks ago. Since there was only about a month left on the Kaspersky subscription, we uninstalled Kaspersky and all is well. We think there was a conflict between Kaspersky and Windows Defender. jpw
I was just having the same problem right now.
After scaning to see if i had viruses, I took a look at the setings of the antivirus and saw that Advanced Disinfection was turn on.
Computer went back to normal after I turn that feature off and turn on concede resoursces to other applications.(It's in setings, compatibility).
My guess is that some lates update must have turned Adv.dis. on as I don't recalll turning it on as there is a warning that it can slow down sys performance.
