Is is possible to retrieve emails PST delete?

February 24, 2011 at 06:39:26
Specs: Windows XP, Intel/Core 2 GB Ram
We are trying to recover emails from 2008 - 2009 that were lost. Running Outlook 2003. I think the PST file may have been accidentally deleted. Is there a way to recover these emails or a utility that can be purchased to recover. I've heard conflicting information as to whether emails are part of the data that is forever on the hard drive unless shredded or wiped.

"I've heard conflicting information as to whether emails are part of the data that is forever on the hard drive unless shredded or wiped"

Give that drive to an expert & they will recover anything.

Big hammer is the only sure way.

Can you suggest someone to send it to?

Try a restore point first.

Guapo- You mean a restore point with Norton? I haven't thought about that yet. I assumed we wouldn't be able to restore that far back.

John- We've tried the Outlook repair. From what I can tell there must be nothing to repair as it seems to do nothing. I've tried Recuva as well. Very cool program. Recovered files all the way back to 1995. Unfortunately it didn't recover the PST file I needed. Unless the PST file could be named something else? Honestly I didn't go through all 6,000 or so recovered files. I just sorted by date and looked for a PST file from Dec 09 which is when I lost all my email info.

We are at the point where we would be ok with sending the hard drive to someone but I'd like recommendations if at all possible.

Thanks in advance.

"Unless the PST file could be named something else?"

Common File Extensions

Could be EML, MSG, OST.

"I'd like recommendations if at all possible"
I can't help on that one, never used anyone.

No, not with Norton. I never recommend anything with Norton other than to uninstall it. I meant a Windows restore point.
