Solved is 50searchengines.com a virus?

September 15, 2011 at 05:24:29
Specs: Windows 7
Is 50searchengines.com a virus? Suddenly every time I open internet explorer an additional page opens as well... for instance, my home page is yahoo, but next to it another page opens called 50 search engines for internet explorer. Since the appearance of 50 search engines for internet explorer I find that Mozilla Firefox will no longer open. I had Antivir installed and ran a scan - it didn't find anything, but this seems like a virus. Thanks in advance.

✔ Best Answer
Open IE and click on tools/internet and then remove the problem homepage and apply.

If it still comes up, try a full scan using malwarebytes and fix all it finds.
Antivir is a weak AV , I would suggest Avast Free:

You can read about why it is a great AV:

Thank you. I'm an older person and not so computer savvy. Looking in the tools revealed that 50 search engines had installed itself as one of my homepages. I'm running malwarebytes right now as I type this. Thank you again!
