Solved irritating fake email that I cannot delete

June 13, 2012 at 09:33:44
Specs: Windows 7
When I open my bt internet email, up pops (flashing!) a message as if I had opened it, from bendy.puff3. Very funny. I click on x to close it, and it pops back next time I open the inbox. I can't delete it because it doesn't appear in inbox, trash or spam. I've asked my email provider - silence. I'd be grateful for any advice.

It's something to do with Yahoo Messenger, which I have been very slow to realise. Sign out of Messenger and the irritating message disappears. Do I need Messenger anyway? Never use it!

What kind of security suite do you have?
Do you have popup blockers or something like no-script in firefox?
Do you have a good hosts file?

Hang up and live.

I have Norton Internet Security - paid for it, dammit! I do have pop-up blockers in firefox - thought that related to ads, and this isn't an ad. I have no idea what a hosts file is. Thanks for your reply.

Just to say, plenty of hosts file info in Google:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
