Internet Security 2010 infected

Specs: Windows XP Home, just a blank screen
Boy, this is a bad one, Internet Scurity 2010. The virus infected my computer about a week ago, denying access to the internet, scary pop-ups every 2 seconds, and now, no matter what I've tried, there's just a blank, blue screen, won't even boot up. Is my laptop toast?

try tapping f8 and go into safemode with networking. Download Malwarebytes, update it and then run it. You may have a rootkit so you may have to use a rootkit remover if the Malwarebytes doesn't remove it.

actually for the rootkit if Malwarebytes doesn't fix things why not try Hitman Pro
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Intern...

I was just told that the 30 day version will remove the rootkit if found.

I appreciate all the helpful suggestions, but I am unable to try any of them because all my laptop will allow me to do is run diagnostics, then shuts itself down each time it begins to reboot. I am typing this from our other computer. Is there a method of performing any of these operations on this computer while applying them to the infected one?
