I'm getting blue screen errors

Microsoft Windows xp home edition

Specs: Windows XP Home SP3
I've been getting blue screen errors for a couple days. I can't figure out what program might be doing it. I've had my browser (IE 8) open, but that's the only thing that seems to be consistant. Though I've had my browser open now for a while, and nothing has happened. Which makes me think it could be an add on triggered by a website, but I don't remember installing any.
I've checked the list of programs, the only thing that I don't recognize is etdware ps 2-x86. I've also run a scan with avast, and found nothing.

Applications don't normally cause blue screens, although it is possible. The usual cause is hardware or a device driver.

The very first thing you should do when you have a blue screen is to write down the error code and other numbers. Without the error code diagnosis is just quesswork. If it reboots then go into the system properties and disable reboot on error.

Thanks. I'd love to post the message. If I see it again, and if I can read it. It has been jumbled up. Once it started on the right side of the screen and continued on the left.
Now it isn't showing the blue screen the monitor just goes blank, and I have to force it to shutdown with the power button. I turned off the screen saver and changed the power settings, so the monitor won't turn off. I turned off auto-reboot on error, and I installed ccleaner and spybot s&d. I've run ccleaner with no problem. When I run spybot s&d the computer goes blank before it finishes.

Malewarebytes found nothing. I tried Spybot s&d again and the computer still crashed before it finished running. This time it gave a blue screen.

The error codes were 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x00000000, 0xB2A51C38, 0x00000000)
