IE and Firefox crashing

Dell Inspiron laptop with intel pentium...
April 17, 2010 at 22:30:53
Specs: Windows XP
For the last few days, everytime I open firefox or IE, it initially seems to work fine until maybe after 2 or 3 clicks...it slows down and becomes non responsive. The only thing I can do at that point is manually shut down my computer, even CTRL ATL DEL does not work.

I have tried to run malware bytes but it found nothing is infected. Tried to system restore but it wont restore to an earlier point. any suggestions?

thanks,

Your pc may be compromised.
You can try Trojan Remover
http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/d...
Hitman Pro
http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro
When they both run clean, you can uninstall them

downloaded and ran trojan remover and hitman pro...hitman pro founded three malicious items and deleted them..

So far I am able to get a little more purchase our of firefox..meaning a few more clicks than before but ultimately freezes.. also unable to turn off the computer normally...always have to do a manual shut down.

will try to download the safari browser and let you know...

thanks

downloaded and installed safari as well...seems to run quite smoothly and was able to turn off the laptop in a normal fashion as well... not sure what the problem is with firefox and internet explorer.

do you think I should reinstall these browsers? I am not sure

try resetting IE. Are you using IE8 by chance? I know that one is crammed full of junk and responds REAL slow on some PC's.
If it is IE8, I would suggest uninstalling it and reverting back to IE7 which is much faster.
