i cant get into my computer it has a virus

June 19, 2011 at 06:33:00
Specs: Microsoft
I was looking up pictures of tattoos on goodle. I clicked on the one I plan on getting and was immediately bombarded with virus and antivirus windows.
I can no longer get into anything on my computer. It will start, I can log in, but no more. The antivirus stuff pops up asking me to buy more software. I cannot open safari, the home drive, nothing.
I have used a mac for 6 years and this is my first PC. I've never had a virus before, I don't know what to do!
Help!

calishorty,

"The antivirus stuff pops up asking me to buy more software."

Does it show a name, like, Vista Antivirus 2012, etc.?

Also what Operating System are you using, Windows 7, Vista, XP?

Do you have access to any clean Windows computer?

If you could give us more info, it would help.

In the meantime, try the following:

Start your computer.
Tap the F8 key before Windows starts, to bring up the Windows Advanced Options menu

Use the arrow keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (The most recent settings that worked)
Press: Enter

If after several attempts you are unable to get into the XP Windows Advanced Options Menu, as the computer is booting into Windows, turn it off pressing the on/off button on the computer case for about 4 to 5 seconds.

Now, turn the computer on, once again.
Windows should notice that the computer did not successfully boot the last time, and show the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

From the Windows Advanced Options Menu, select the Last known good configuration. (Highlight and press enter to load)

The computer should restart and load into Windows.

Let us know how it goes.

if all this did not work do the following:
TRY THIS IF AND ONLY IF U CAN GET TO SAFE MODE
when u start ur pc keep pressing the F8 key until u get a black screen with options u can choose, hit safe mode once ur in go to start, all programs, accessories systemtools, system restore and restore ur system to an earlier time before going to google and getting hit by the virus.
