I cannot access add/remove programs

August 5, 2011 at 10:50:39
Specs: Windows XP
When i try to open add/remove programs from the control panel i get a message that says: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Application not found" I have scanned my pc for viruses using Mcafee and it says that there are no viruses. I assumed that something was wrong with Mcafee so tried to install Norton Security on my computer. I got a mess age that said that i must first uninstall Mcafee but i cant because i cant access my control panel.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

you could be infected, try a full scan with malwarebytes and fix all it finds
Then scan with Trojan Remover and Hitman Pro and fix all they find

I assumed that something was wrong with Mcafee so tried to install Norton Security on my computer. I got a mess age that said that i must first uninstall Mcafee but i cant because i cant access my control panel.

You can use revo uninstaller to uninstall McAfee and all it's registry entries...then I would suggest you maybe try Avast Free, much better realtime protection, free auto updates daily and no scheduled scans needed...I have removed many Nortons and installed Avast free for my clients...FREE is sometimes much better than pay...

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
