I am unable to uninstall a program in Vista.

April 13, 2011 at 20:50:10
Specs: Windows Vista
I am trying to uninstall a free spyware download from Windows Vista. After the uninstall begins, I get the warning that a foreign program is trying to take control of my computer. The details show that it is from the same software I am trying to uninstall, so I hit cancel. It then returns to "Do I want to uninstall?", and it goes this way in circles. Should I give the very software I'm trying to eliminate control of my computer? It probably already has access. What do I do?

Thanks.

First of all, what is the name of the program, and are you sure it is from Windows?
Second, try going into Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs (it is supposed to be much safer that way).

I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been. I use Windows Vista and downloaded a "free" spyware program from "STOPzilla". I later found that it would only work for a fee. I chose not to buy it and tried to uninstall it by going through the control panel and then uninstall. After the uninstall began I received the warning that an unknown program is trying to gain control of my computer and not to allow it to do so if I am not familiar with it. In the Details section, I saw that it was from the same maker as the software I was trying to uninstall, so I chose "No", and then it returned me to the first step of the uninstall process. It keeps going this way in circles. I guess my question is, should I allow it to run? It probably has access to my computer as it is since I installed it previously. I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

you'd search for the the software downloaded, take a look at most of the information described in the search results. you may have downloaded a rogue software or did not uninstall completely, existing the residual file system. You can get more help from: http://www.how-to-uninstall-program.com/

The first thing you could try is uninstalling from Safe Mode (hold F8 on startup and select).
