I am certain I have a redirect virus... help?

Specs: Windows XP
Okay, first of all, this is my first post on this site, so if I do something wrong, please let me know.
Well, I noticed I had a redirect virus... maybe a month ago. I also had a Just-In-Time Debugging pop-up that never goes away, no matter what method I tried.... anyways, the JIT Debugging pop-up is the least of my concerns, as I can ignore that.
I have the free avast anti-virus downloaded to my computer, and that was about two years ago. Then, since I got this redirect virus (I get redirected sometimes, or other times, I get pop ups), I downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to help me combat this virus. The first few times I used it, I think it helped, as I was able to get rid of some trojans. However, recently, MBAM did not get rid of anything... even though I still see the pop-ups.
I am worried about this virus, because even more recently, three very important thing happened: 1. I am unable to use system restore. 2. Avast says that it is not working. 3. My firewall is turned off, and I can't put it back on.

Clearly, avast and MBAM aren't taking care of the job done. Can anyone please help me out? I'm no expert on computers, so from what I read on previous forums, I might have to copy and paste some logs? I'll try my best to comprehend you guys.

Hey XpUser4Real,
I downloaded the Trojan Remover recently. I ran a scan, and I guess I removed a few trojans. I ran across this, and I'm not sure if I should delete it. It was a Restrictive Windows Explorer Policy.
The Policy is: CheckExeSignature
The Scope is: Current User
The Effect is: Disables digital signature checks on downloaded files

Should I delete that? Until then, I will not delete it.

I still can't turn on my firewall, so I know that I still have problems.
