Microsoft Windows 7 home premium

Specs: Windows 07.03.2010
I recently installed QuickTime onto my computer from a website. After that, I discovered that I couldn't see the videos on 95% of the websites that I visited. I unistalled the program from my computer, but QTTASK.exe is still there. When I try to delete it, my computer tells me to close the files in QTTASK.exe in order to delete it. Problem is, I don't know how to close it because it never really opens where I can see it. Please tell me how to close the files so I can live happily ever after again. :)

mrsjennakaulitzm Try using Unlocker 1.8.9 to delete it. It's free at the link below.

FileASSASSIN is another free program to try. Here's the link.

Is it located in C:\Program Files\QuickTime\?
Did you tried to end the process in Task Manager for QTTASK.exe and then uninstall it?

Quicktime installs a very annoying process called qttask.exe that you may often see running in your taskbar and processlist. There is no way to stop it running from within quicktime's preferences. Instead, you must:

* Go to 'Start' -> 'Run'
* Type 'regedit' and click 'OK'
* Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime\ActiveX
* Find the value QTTaskRunFlags, right click on it and change the value to 0
* Delete the value pointing to qttask.exe
