These three small freebies from MalwareBytes often find what anti-virus programs miss. Run them in the order given:

AdwCleaner:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcle...
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Clean" button.

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)
https://www.malwarebytes.com/junkwa...
The download is just below the Forums blue button (where it says "Click here"). Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.

MalwareBytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
(use the "Free Download" button rather than the "Buy Now" button).
After the install go to "Settings > Protection". Under Scan Options move the "Scan for rootkits" slider over to On and Run the Threat Scan. Quarantine anything it finds.

If any of them find something please copy/paste the associated logs on here.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

We can't. They are coming and we are doomed.

It's too late... they're here...

Have you run a few cleaners and a decent anti-virus; as I suspect you have acquired a virus or malware...?

Re-installing Windows can be a major effort.

What you've told us so far is almost useless for analyzing
your problem and determining the cause. Explain exactly
what is happening, the conditions under which it happens,
and why you think it shouldn't be happening. And of course,
the make and model of your friend's laptop and the version
of the operating system it is running.

It keeps saying random things whenever we play a game. I don't think it should happen, because all we have done on the internet, is install an antivirus and downloaded a couple of games (apart from when his mum was on it, and she downloaded a load of random things). I don't currently know the specs, apart from it is an i5 Asus laptop, but I will find out the model on Sunday. It is a windows 10 laptop

"It keeps saying random things whenever we play a game...."

This happens with any game, or just one game?

That's what I've been waiting to learn. It will be-- what's the
word? Not exactly humorous... exasperating? eye-rolling?
expectation-confirming? -- to find out it is just one game.

Fixed! Thanks for all of your advice, turns out that one of the programmes his mum downloaded was malware with a fake name. I will find out the name of it tomorrow.
