Solved How do I uninstall 99 search engines directory?

January 12, 2014 at 07:40:34
Specs: Windows 7
This search engine is not what I want. I just want to know how to get rid of it. When it's opened it pops up several tabs at once, and then runs slow, and unresponsive. I do not trust 99 search engines directory. It just isn't what I wanted.

Yes Ewen, good find, I do believe you are right. I've now recalled this "99 Search Engines" from way back in the Win 95 days.

Have you looked in IE > Tools > Manage addons. I think you might find it under Search Providers. If so just right click it and remove it. Note that you can make any search provider "default" there too.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Your system is infected. Run a full scan (not quick scan) for viruses & malware from Safe Mode.

SEE #3 and #4 FIRST. I think #4 is all you need to do.

After #1 if you are still in trouble download this file using the button "Download Now @BleepingComputer". Double click on the saved file to run the program:

Do the Scan. It is usually quite save to run the Clean and remove all dubious toolbars or their remnants.

Keep logs of this and MalwareBytes above, in case further action is necessary.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
