how do I get rid of this spyware?

October 9, 2011 at 01:33:04
Specs: Windows XP
I got infected with what I assume is spyware because suddenly I was getting pop-ups and a weird error message that looked similar to a windows error message except at the top it said it was from Dr. somethings debugger and there was an error. So I ran bunch of scans and found some spyware but my sound is all scratchy still when I play videos and my computer doesn't play the videos or anything very quickly like it used to. I wonder if my computer is still infected but none of my spyware or virus stuff is finding any problems. I'm using a dell desktop from 2004. Thanks!

Try a program called TDSS.exe. Strangely it comes a zip file. No problem. Open the file by extracting it a folder. You can do it to the Desktop but I prefer a separate folder. On my computer it's "utilities."

Make sure you do the "Change parameters" on the first screen to include the Driver verification and especially the Boot Sector detector setting as show on this web page: http://support.kaspersky.com/faq?ch...

Not positive it's what's ailing you, but it should help.

you should run these 3 progs in the EXACT order:
1- rkill.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
2- TDSS Killer
http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?q...
3- Malwarebytes
http://www.filehippo.com/download_m...
Fix all they find and DON'T reboot untill the last scan from malwarebytes.

try running them in safe mode and see if that removes the problem permanently
