How can I remove this virus?

Specs: Windows Vista, AMD Turion X2/3072 MB PC6400 SDRAM
My computer got infected, and now when I regularly boot it, my background changes. I can't run my anti-virus or any other programs either. There is this program called SystemTool that starts up and says it found a bunch of infections but won't do anything to register or remove them. When I do try to run a program, the little SystemTool tray bar icon gives me a prompt that will say something like: "Can't run operation, the file control.exe is infected". I went into safe mode and ran SpySweeper and the Microsoft Spyware Removal program or whatever it's called, and they both found and quarantined objects. When I restart, though, I get the same problems as before. Any thoughts on how to remove this? I don't know if it's a virus or spyware, but any help is greatly appreciated!

from google: "System Tool is a rogue security program.."
try restarting the computer and hit F8 then select "safe mode with networking" .. find and download malawarebytes and then run it..
if u can't run any programs using your mouse, try using your keyboard instead of your mouse to navigate.. does ctrl-alt-del or ctrl-shift-del work? if so, start taskmgr and then kill any processes that look fishy.. if ur not sure which processes to kill, try killing them 1 by 1 (at the worst you'll have to restart your computer) until the system tool screen goes away.. u can also try to start taskmgr by holding the windows key and pressing r .. then type "taskmgr" (without quotes) and hit enter.. you may also have to restart the explorer process: windows + r + explorer.exe + enter .. hope this helps
