Guys this is a chromebook, Google Chrome OS.

Have you tried resetting the browser settings in advanced settings?

I'm not sure how extensive this will be as I don't use Chrome OS so you may want to backup book marks and saved pages etc.

I was reading an excellent post in another forum earlier before I got side tracked. I will see if I can find it for you.

Don't know the item to which you refer... but...

Run these cleaners n this order and likely they "will" get rid of it. Likely will eradicate a lot of other stuff you didn't know was there and up to no good at the same time.

adwcleaner

JRT (Junkware Removal Tool)

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...

Malwarebytes

http://filehippo.com/download_malwa...

ccleaner

http://filehippo.com/download_cclea...

JRT installs to the desktop, from you run it. It will open into dos style window. Follow the instructions therein. It will reboot the system as part of its process.

All of the above are safe to are; free; regularly recommended here.

Install each using the manual/custom option - NOT the automatic option. Carefullly watch for and uncheck any pre-checked boxes - apart from the actual utility itself. That way you avoid installing a whole slew of other stuff so helpfully checked/marked to be installed - for your convenience. You either need nor want the other stuff; much if a true PIA to eradicate.

Never use the automatic install option for anything downloaded of the web; always use the manual/custom option.

"Verse of the Day from Bible Gateway"
I can check these logs, after you have run the tools in post #1.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not the Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.

If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt).
The logs are large, upload them using Zippy ( No account/registration needed ) or upload to a site of your choosing. Give us the links please.

This link was posted in a previous thread involving the same subject:

It may help too. If you use any removal software use the ones posted by others here and not the ones in the link.

Found one of the pages I was reading. The second post talks about resetting the browser and further down the page a poster mentions killing the task in task manager.
