how can i get rid of the ntl authority shutdo

Specs: Windows xp
As soon as the computer comes on the box comes up with the shutdown message and turns off the computer. I have tried everything searching for a worm etc but I cant get on the internet now.I had avast installed and a firewall.PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?

Once again, the AV program failed. Try F8, go to safe mode. Then run msconfig, disable all, click apply & reboot.

Did that work?

im encountering that even at the safe mode, everytime i open my laptop, windows xp is still automatically turning off just a few second,maybe 2 to 3. i cannot disable the shutting down by using start<run<shutdown -a

what more i can do?

Try last known good config or any of the others in the F8 menu.
