Hey guys, a potential virus problem?

December 17, 2010 at 18:56:32
Specs: Windows Vista, e8400/4gb corsair
I wasn't even considering asking for help because of the hassle, and was about to reinstall but im gunna give this a shot before i do it.

Problem: One night i downloaded a screensaver, and then it didnt work, so i searched the site up on mcafree site advisor and i got bad news, so since then i was paranoid.

Heres the link to the macafree report about the site etc,

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/wa...

I truly hope you guys can find out if it is a virus, and if it is then help me get rid of it.

Any response is greatly apperciated.

edit: opps forgot to put the link lol

Hey mate,

If your current Antivirus (please list) doesn't fix / find anything, you can try running Spybot and see if it finds anything. If not, I would say that you're in the clear.

Just to make sure, through, I would like to have a look at your processes list. Please press 'Windows' and 'R' on your keyboard, and in the 'Run' box, type 'cmd.exe' and press ok. When you get a black window, type 'tasklist' and press enter. Please copy and paste the output here, or take a screenshot and email it to me (matthew.mcdougall@linknet-ap.com.au) and I will take a look.

Yours,
Matt

What spybot picked up is nothing serious (I am assuming it auto fixed them?), and there are no bad processes in your list, so I would say that you are in the clear. Especially with AVG (even the free version), it will pick up most known viruses and kill and/or quarantine them before they even run.

Nothing to worry about :)
