Specs: Windows XP
My husband was working in IE and we wound up with Clean Up Antivirus rootkit. Contacted Kaspersky and their fixes didn't work. So I did a System Restoreand that seemed to work, except now all of my searches (in Firefox) keep getting redirected. So I guess I have another virus that Kaspersky is not picking up!Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you tried rebooting in safe mode (F8), and then doing a deep scan?..

Yes, that's exactly what I did. But now I have the redirecting problem so I am sure there is something else there....

It sounds like a browser hijack. Try using Smitfraudfix which can be found here: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-... please read the instructions carefully, and follow the steps as they are listed. Let me know if it helps. You could also try ComboFix which can be found here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/com...

I would DEFINITELY refrain from using Smitfraudfix. One slip and your operating system is toast.

Try Trojan Remover and Hitman Pro. They are user friendly safe to use and remove all they find.
Once they run clean you can uninstall them.

Thanks to both responders.....
I am reluctant to try these suggestions for fear of totally messing up my system.... I also ran full scans again last night and Kaspersky is not finding any problems.. My plan now is to set my computer back to its original settings.
Thanks again for your help.

'My plan now is to set my computer back to its original settings.'

before you do that, be SURE to save all the important documents, pics, etc as they will ALL BE GONE when you restore it back to factory settings
