Help me get rid of virus without downloading?

October 25, 2010 at 11:23:15
Specs: Windows 7
I have a dell inspiron that I got about one year ago. I don't really have any virus protection except malwarebytes' and a demo version of McAfee. Today while on the internet a message popped up saying an unknown website was trying to open a window on my computer. I clicked don't allow and not even 5 seconds later something installed itself saying that it found some virus on my computer and would scan for free. Now I can't open anything, including the internet, and everytime I try to it says whatever I'm trying to open is infected and will start scanning things. It also keeps trying to get me to download something called antivirus action but the name and screen seems odd. Please tell me how to get rid of this without downloading anything because I'm only 15 and my parents would kill me if they found out I got a virus AND downloaded something.

You may need to use a mates comp & burner then.

Here are links to the fixes.

"I'm only 15 and my parents would kill me if they found out I got a virus AND downloaded something."

I don't know if it's your fault because they were dumb enough to just have a mcAfee trial running on the PC.
Here's how you could have avoided your problem:
http://www.computing.net/howtos/sho...

Now as far as downloading stuff, you are out of luck....you won't clean up the problem with what you have on your PC.

Tap f8 on bootup and choose safe mode with networking. Open IE and download these progs:
1- rkill.exe (will kill the rogue process)
2- tdss killer (will remove the unwanted rootkit if it's there)
Run those 2 and clean out all they find, then run your malwarebytes in full scan mode.
That should remove the problem, then reboot and see if it is solved.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
