HELP! Facebook virus sending messages

November 1, 2012 at 05:40:45
Specs: Windows XP
I never click on links on facebook but I somehow got a virus which is sending a link to all of my friends. It's send through facebook message but I can't see any of the messages being sent. I've changed my password 3 times already which does nothing to stop it. I've tried running a virus scan and it isn't finding anything. I finally deactivated my account so that my friends won't have to deal with the messages anymore but I want to know how to get rid of it so I can get my facebook back!

Download and run malwarebytes, update it first. Do full scan and remove all it finds when done the scan. See if that helps. Do you have an antivirus?

I ran malwarebytes and it didn't find anything. I also have an antivirus and ran a scan for that too.

The message being sent only includes a link - no text or subject. And it's not in my sent mailbox. I feel like I've tried everything and I can't seem to find a solution.

Sometimes it you think this is coming from your computer, when in fact you are receiving these from someone who has your address in their address book, and they have an issue. If that is the case it is likely to spontaneously resolve when some one else realizes it may be them.

Do the obvious, change the password from a different computer ._.. After that we can work on removing the infection.
