hacktool spammer

Specs: Windows XP
My boyfriend clicked on a link in facebook email about 2 weeks ago and 'hacktool spammer' was downloaded into my PC which I have since tried in vain to get rid of. I have run 'Spyware Doctor', 'Symantec', 'Ad-Aware' and 'Spybot' to date but none of them seemed to work!! 'Hacktool spammer' has now been blocked by 'spyware', but when I run a detailed scan, 'Hacktool spammer' is detected in 'Symantec' every time I start up the computer.

Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Any advice would be much appreciated.

"'Hacktool spammer' is detected in 'Symantec' every time I start up the computer."

If Norton is not removing it I would uninstall Norton using the uninstaller from their website and then using a Free Avast and getting it to do a bootscan on reboot, moving all it finds to the chest.
Norton is one of the worst AV's out there.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
