Can you explain the symptoms a little better? Where are you being redirected to? What is it saying?

the virus appears to take one word out of my search and redirect me to a random website with similar subject matter. ie. if i type in anti-virus download, it will automatically take me to the Norton website even if i didn't select it. others include "search.pro.com" and "ads.ask.com."

i'm pretty sure this is the same virus a lot of people have been posting about. I've already run Malwarebytes and done a scan via McAfee but the problem persists. thanks in advance for any help.

tap f8 on bootup, select safe mode with networking and run a full scan using malwarebytes and fix all it finds.
You may also want to download and run the following while in safe mode:
Trojan Remover
Hitman Pro
fix all they find also

You probably posted a HJT log without being ASKED by a qualified helper, and that's why your other post may have been removed. You wouldn't pull apart your whole car motor and take it in to a garage and ask them to fix it and put it back in for you.. would you?

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Had the same problem...Here's a VERY easy fix for this...
Here it is step by wonderful step...
Click My Computer and open the Windows folder.
Then open the System32 folder.
Then open the drivers folder.
Next open the etc folder
Double click on hosts
Open it with notepad.
in this file you'll see several # signs. These are normal just ignore them.
Towards the bottom you should see this entry:
127.0.0.1 local host
This entry is genuine and no threat. HOWEVER if there is anything typed below this entry you should delete it. Once you do so exit notebook and choose Save.
Redirect should end :)
Hope this was helpful!
Any other ?'s feel free to hit me up on Y ahoo messenger c_misero
