I am getting blue screens on start up (SRQL and IRQL errors) and search result links are redirecting to ad pages. I run McAfee but looks like something got through. In addition to advice on a fix - any advice on better virus software? Hardware diagnostics check out okay.

Please help!

The new Avast free is the best anti-virus out there so you may want to try that (even has rootkit and extra gaming protection). I've been using Avast for 9 yrs now with great results.

Use the McAfee uninstaller to remove it as NOTHING will run well if you leave any of it in the registry.

For your problems, I pasted this from another post I answered:
Download these 3 things to a thumb drive or burn them to a CD on another PC and intsall and run them on your PC.
1- Malwarebytes
2- Trojan remover
3- unhackme (follow the beginners guide) run that untill there are no infections left.

Just ignore all the pop-ups from the infections when you are running the cleaners.

Run those and if they don't load in regular mode, do it in safe mode.

Once there are no more infections you can uninstall trojan remover and unhackme in the add/remove programs.

I removed those infections on 7 different PC's in the past few days.

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Thanks for the advice!

I ran Hitman Pro (free version) and it seemed to clear up my problem, but I'm still having a lot of slowness and will run the 3 you mentioned to see if that helps further.

I will definitely be trying Avast. Appreciate it!
