hey, im home for the holidays and found my moms laptop was infected with some crazy malware posing as windows security center. it disabled the desktop and a whole bunch of other stuff and redirected everything to fake windows alerts saying to buy their crap.

i ctrl+alt+deleted psecurity.exe and ran mbam, superantispyware, and cccleaner which seems to have gotten rid of most, but the search result redirect problem still lingers and isnt being picked up by anything ive tried.

i thought to scan from safe mode but alas, safe mode gives me the bsod at mup.sys. i want this thing wiped out, so any help would be much appreciated.

It's a rootkit doing this. The only way I've found to get rid of it is to use Kasperkey TDSS Killer.

i ended up backing up my data and restoring the factory image,
but thanks for the reply!
