Google Chrome will not launch

May 12, 2015 at 08:37:22
Specs: Windows XP
I have used Chrome very successfully for a number of years now and suddenly yesterday it will not launch. I have tried everything I can do from advice garnered on the interent... and it still will not launch. It is driving me crazy... I just get the hourglass for a few seconds and then nothing happens.

IE and Firefox are working OK - but I like Chrome!

I have tried a variety of malware/spyware removal tools (all of which found something and removed it) and have uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome at least four times since yesterday.

Help!!

We need to be certain this isn't down to malware as it is the most likely cause. Have you tried all of these on it?:

AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.

MalwareBytes:
http://filehippo.com/download_malwa...
(green Download button top right - not anything else on the page)
Install and Run the program but before doing its Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds.

ADWCleaner & Junkware Removal Tool are particularly focussed on browser malware issues.

Please copy/paste the logs on here for any of the above that you haven't already tried. Any other logs you have kept would be of interest too.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
