Getting IE popups when using Firefox

January 4, 2010 at 13:05:10
Specs: Windows XP
Hi there.

I'm using XP/firefox. This week I have for the first time been getting IE popups while using Firefox. I never use IE. I subsequently ran BitDefender 2010, Malawarebytes Anti-Mal and Super AntiSpyware, but it didn't get rid of the problem.

I get a variety of dif ads - the best was an Internet Security Ad... the rest haven't amused me at all - I really really want to be clean again.

Should I HijackThis and send logs from this?

With very big thanks for any help,
Cath

Does this also happen, when you use NoScript add-on for firefox?
This by default does not allow java for all websites so that you have to rightclick the small icon at the bottom right of your firefox, to allow java temporarily or permanently for that internet domain.
Also Adblock Plus is a good choice for your firefox.

Yep, that normally works great and in my opinion, it's a must.

Actually boo sorry. It's come back. A popup in IE for 'CiD: Dragonica' (video game). Hmm. Feel good I have no script etc now downloaded - but any other thoughts on how to rid this one that keeps coming back?
Thanks
Cath

hey i had the same problem and i fixed it by uninstalling the CiD program in the control panel it installed itself automatically after I downloaded some bad software. so look for a program in your add/remove programs called like CiD Helper or something like that. i removed it and haven't seen a pop up so far.
