Folder infected on external.

Specs: Windows 7, P1600@2.00GHz/4.00GB,3.80GBusable
I have a folder on my external that is infected. It won't open at all. Inside are 2 wordpad documents and 1 word document. I very much want these back. Any ideas on how to remove the virus and get my files back without erasing my drive?

Try the following:

Download DDS:

Save it to the Desktop, however, rename it as you save it, to:

Make sure your external hard drive is connected.

Vista/Windows 7, right-click and select: 'Run as Administrator', to run the program.

As the program starts, select: 'Advanced', then, select the following:
-Reset Policies
-Restore File Associations

Click 'Start', then click 'Yes' to the next message.

When done, please post the [B]dds_advanced_fixes.txt[/B] log in your reply.
