Flash_Player.45174.exe virus?

Microsoft Windows xp professional w/sp2

Specs: Windows XP, AMD Athalon 64 X2, 4GB
I'm having some major trouble with my
computer. I was informed by a flash hosting
site that my player was out of date and I
needed an update. I generally don't hang
around Adobe websites so I just assumed
another update had been released. After
downloading and starting the install my
computer abruptly died and restarted. Now any
time I get to the Windows loading screen my
computer flashes a blue screen for a fraction of
a second (it doesn't seem like the normal blue
screen) and then restarts again. I've tried safe
mode but got the same results. Any help is
appreciated and thank you very much.

"Flash_Player 45174.exe" is definitely a virus - see Google.

Sorry, can't help personally but take it carefully until someone
can fix it for you, in case it is keylogging or something.

Ya, I've done a lot of searching and haven't been able to find anything. I've also posted on other forums and still have nothing. I can't even get into Windows so at least I don't have to worry about keylogging (if you can consider that a bonus XD ). It looks like I'm just going to have to wipe it. Hopefully I'm not losing anything important, I try to back-up periodically. Thank you for your reply, you're the only one so far.

Ooops, apologies for that stupid remark about keylogging - uggh.

Yes, I found several references which confirmed it was a virus, or seemed to, but no fixes. Might be worth looking for "computer restarting" in case that gives a way forward and a chance to run MalwareBytes or whatever.

Another possibility is a Repair Install
