Specs: Windows 7
Certain files have disappeared off my computer. My pc had recently been very slow and when I did a scan it showed virus's on it (win32redhip.A / Turkojanj.A1 which have now been cleared). Have tried to do a scan using 'Recover my files' but can't seem to see any .xls files at all. Could they have been renamed to a different data type. - Vista - dell computer. Worried that someone may have been able to access my machine. I've also done a restore to the earliest point and this hasn't worked either.

Thanks for any help :)

Do you realize that doing a restore point may have reinstalled the virus?

Have you done a search using *.xls (that is "star dot xls") to see if they have got relocated?

Do you remember the name of one of them? if so, search for the name part only and if the extension has changed you should still find it.

It looks like this worm doesn't usually effect .xls files, so im thinking that you have more viri than just these. these are both backdoor type files so I would make sure there isn't something lurking that someone put in your system.

Running MalwareBytes freebie would be worthwhile as this is easy to do and good at finding/fixing lurking nasties.
