Specs: Windows Vista
I recently victim to (What I believe to be) the Koobface worm that is spread through fradulent messages on Facebook. Ever since it has gotten on my computer, I constantly receive pop-ups via Internet Explorer saying that I have spyware on my computer and that it needs to be removed, some of these popups even emulate a real scan taking place, with the Windows Vista logo placed somewhere in the ad. I also get popups for Adult Friend Finder. I'll also note that these popups occur even when I am not using Internet Explorer.

I have run Spybot- Search & Destroy and McAfee numerous times in the past few days. Spybot originally came up with the Koobvirus as result, and I thought it deleted it off my computer because that result has not been displayed in subseqent scans, but I stil get these popups all the time. Also, it seems like every time I've run a S&D scan, it comes up with at least 5 new tracking cookies that are always deleted. McAfee is useless, because it has not come up with any results yet.

Every attempt to get this virus off my computer has completely an utterly failed. What can I do to eliminate this problem? These pop-ups always show up thru IE, never Google Chrome (Also on my laptop.) Woulp un-installing Internet Explorer possibly be a solution? Thanks for any help!

when you do a full scan on your computer, it would be best to run it in safemode. Be sure to update the antivirus software before booting to safemode. This is to prevent watch dogs from replicating the file again.

You mean run Windows in Safe Mode, right?
