download file pops up when I open progams

June 28, 2011 at 15:12:08
Specs: Windows 7, i7 CPU/ 4 Ram
"download file" pops up when I open program

I usually can cancel out of it but in one program. Dragon Naturally Speaking, I am blocked from the program and have to Ctr-Alt-Del out. In the background a file appears to be downloading a file or files. Is this a virus? My virus scan.....Avast.....doesn't pick one up. Thank you for any suggestions. kdj

Thank you very much for the advice. The scan found 3 items; 2 broken open virus' in the registry and one trojan virus in a file. I still have a problem with the pop ups but you put me on the right path which I will pursue. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. KDJ

ok, run these 3 in the exact order
1- rkill.exe (stops the malware process)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
2- tdss killer (removes rootkit if found)
http://support.kaspersky.com/viruse...
3- malwarebytes (do another full scan)
reboot PC

Then download Ccleaner Slim:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/g...

Run it and clean out all it finds, then click on the registry icon on the left of ccleaner, run that and remove ALL it finds
Let us know if you still have problems
